Mace Security International Welcomes Garnett R. Meador
SOLON, OH (February 20, 2013)…Mace Security International has named Garnett R. Meador as General Counsel & Senior Vice President effective Tuesday, April 2. The addition of Meador is another step to strengthen the Mace brand and worldwide presence. He will be headquartered in the company’s the corporate offices in Ohio and report to President and CEO John McCann.
“Garnett Meador was instrumental in helping Jo-Ann Stores, Inc. reach its strategic objectives and he will be influential in Mace Security International’s efforts to become the number one brand in personal security, protection and safety. We are excited to add Garnett’s expertise to our management team as we continue the transformation of the Mace brand,” said McCann.
From 2006-2013, Meador was part of the Jo-Ann Stores, Inc. team that implemented an aggressive strategic plan, leading to impressive performance in many areas and precipitating the private acquisition of Jo-Ann in 2011 by the private equity firm Leonard Green & Partners, L.P. Jo-Ann was formerly traded on the (NYSE: JAS) and is the largest retailer of fabrics and one of the largest specialty retailers of crafts with nearly 800 stores in 49 states.
Prior to Jo-Ann, Meador served as legal counsel and as a member of the leadership team for several closely-held businesses, including a software product and development business serving Fortune 100 manufacturers and consumer products companies, and a regional health care staffing business serving institutional medical facilities throughout Ohio and surrounding states.
Meador holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Case Western Reserve University and a Juris Doctorate degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
Meador is also a Board Member of the non-profit organization “IPM,” an international organization that works across borders of faith, culture and economic circumstances with women and children to create partnerships that build justice, peace and hope.
