Mace® Announces Change in Independent Accounting Firm.

CLEVELAND, OH, September 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/Mace Security International Inc.,

(“the Company”) today announced the appointment of Skoda Minotti CPAs (“Skoda”) to

serve as Mace’s independent certified public accountants for the year ending December

31, 2014 replacing Grant Thornton, LLP (“GT”).

 

In selecting a new auditor, the Company conducted a competitive bid process and

solicited requests from four accounting firms, including GT, that the Company believed

were appropriate, given the size and complexity of the Company. As a result, on August

29, 2014, the Board of Directors (“Board”), based on the evaluation of capabilities and

cost, approved the selection of Skoda as the Company’s independent certified public

accounting firm as the most cost effective solution to Mace Security International’s

current auditing requirements.

 

GT’s audit reports on the Company’s consolidated financial statements for each of

the two most recent fiscal years ended December 31, 2013 and 2012 did not contain

an adverse opinion or a disclaimer of opinion and were not qualified or modified as

to uncertainty, audit scope or accounting principles. There were no disagreements

between the Company and GT on any matter of accounting principles or practices,

financial statement disclosure or auditing scope or procedure.
